Mauritius G2G labour deal with Nepal: cheaper recruitment for workers?

The Kathmandu Post reports that Mauritius has agreed to go ahead with Nepal's proposal for a government-to-government (G2G) labour agreement to recruit Nepali workers. The draft includes provisions to reduce recruitment costs and protect migrant workers' rights.

It isn't signed yet, but it could be a new option besides the Gulf and Malaysia. Does anyone know which sectors Mauritius usually hires for, and how G2G hiring works compared with going through a manpower company?

Under a G2G deal, recruitment normally goes through the government side (in Nepal's case the Department of Foreign Employment) instead of private agencies, so the cost to the worker should be much lower. Korea's EPS is the best-known example.

Until the agreement is actually signed and DoFE publishes a notice, be careful with any agent who claims to have "Mauritius G2G" seats already. Check notices only on dofe.gov.np.

Good news if it happens. The more destinations with protection clauses, the better. Following this thread for updates.
