Common questions
What are the income tax slabs in Nepal for 2083/84?
1% on the first Rs 10 lakh, 10% on the next Rs 5 lakh, 20% on the next Rs 10 lakh, 27% on the next Rs 15 lakh and 29% on income above Rs 40 lakh. These come from the Finance Act 2083 and apply from Shrawan 1, 2083 (mid July 2026).
Do married people pay less tax now?
No. From FY 2083/84 there is one table for everyone. The separate, slightly wider slabs for married couples were removed, but the new first slab of Rs 10 lakh is much wider than the old Rs 6 lakh couple slab.
Is income up to Rs 10 lakh tax free?
Almost. The first Rs 10 lakh is taxed at 1%, which is social security tax. If you contribute to the Social Security Fund (SSF), that 1% is not charged, so you pay nothing on the first Rs 10 lakh.
How much can SSF, PF and CIT reduce my tax?
Your contributions to SSF, PF, CIT and other approved retirement funds come off your taxable income, up to Rs 5,00,000 a year or one third of your income, whichever is less. Your employer's share counts as your income first and is then deducted.
How much tax is cut from my monthly salary?
Employers usually spread the yearly tax evenly over 12 months and deduct it as TDS. The monthly figure above is the yearly tax divided by 12. Your actual slip can differ a little if your pay changes during the year or you get a bonus.
What does this calculator leave out?
It does not include the extra relief for people with a disability, pension income, the medical expense tax credit, donations, or income other than salary (rent, shares, business). For those, ask your employer's accounts team or the Inland Revenue Department.
