Total beginner. Want to apply for IPOs and later buy shares. What accounts do I need and how much does it cost?
How to start investing in NEPSE 2026: demat, Meroshare and TMS step by step
Three accounts:
1. Demat account (gets you a 16-digit BOID). Open at any bank or capital company that is a Depository Participant. Bring citizenship, photos and your bank account details. Annual fee is usually Rs 100 to 200 depending on the DP. 2. Meroshare (https://meroshare.cdsc.com.np) to apply for IPOs and transfer shares. Rs 50 registration, Rs 50 yearly renewal. Ask your bank for the CRN to link C-ASBA, which blocks the IPO amount in your account until allotment. 3. TMS trading account with a SEBON-licensed broker for buying and selling on the secondary market. Free to open, you pay commission per trade.
IPO basics: minimum 10 kitta, one application per BOID. When oversubscribed, a lottery gives 10 kitta to selected applicants.

Don't forget to renew Meroshare and demat every year. Expired accounts can't apply for IPOs.
Very clear, thank you!
