The Kathmandu Post looked into this in Feb 2026. Common pattern: Rs 500 to register and see rooms, then about Rs 2,000 for one room, Rs 3,000 for two rooms, Rs 4,000 for a flat once you take it. Some also charge the landlord.
There is no government-fixed fee, so it's negotiable and "arbitrary" according to consumer lawyers quoted.
